JOHNSON assured that the United Kingdom would make the request happen in a matter of a few months.
His visit is in response to signals by President ADAMA BARROW, to blot of the legacies of his exiled predecessor, YAHYA JAMMEH.
JAMMEH had in 2013 withdrawn The Gambia’s membership from the Commonwealth, which he described as a neo-colonial institution.
But President BARROW has repeatedly signaled his intention to return the country to international bodies such as the Commonwealth and International Criminal Court.
The new administration in The Gambia has been enjoying a lot of international goodwill since BARROW took office, including a promised of an aid package of about eighty million dollars by the European Union.
