NDSF: Team Bayelsa wins maiden Niger Delta Sports fiesta 

Team Bayelsa has emerged as champions of the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) with 86 medals, garnering  42 gold, 29 silver and 15 bronze.

The six-day competition was held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, started on April 1 to April 8.

Delta came second even with its highest number of 99 medals, with 41 Gold, 26 Silver, and 32 Bronze.

Edo secured the third position with 89 with medals 23 Gold, 35 Silver, and 31 Bronze.

Rivers won a total of 63 medals to come third with 21 gold, 16 silver and 26 bronze medals, with Ondo State coming fifth with 10 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze medals with a total of 43.

Host state, Akwa Ibom is sixth on the log with nine gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals totaling 37 medals.

Abia garnered 32 medals; 9 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze medals with Team Imo having 42 medals; six gold, 12 silver and 24 bronze medals.

Cross River however came last with five gold, seven silver and 19 bronze with a total of 31 medals.

Medals were given to athletes on Monday night to make the closing ceremony seamless on Tuesday.
