Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a suspected drug dealer, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, after 13 years in hiding.
The suspect was taken into custody following the seizure of large consignments of cocaine and heroin allegedly linked to him at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos. Authorities said intelligence tracking and renewed investigation led to his eventual arrest.
In a statement, the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that Chidiebere was first arrested in 2013 for cocaine trafficking and subsequently arraigned before Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
Babafemi explained that the suspect jumped bail after being released and went underground, evading arrest for over a decade. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down drug traffickers and ensuring that those who attempt to evade justice are brought to book.
