NDDC MD urges unity in the fight against hunger

Ogbuko who made the call during the first Niger Delta Agribusiness Development Summit and Exhibition organized by the Niger Delta Practicing Farmers Foundation, NDPFF, explained that addressing the substantial deficit in food production and the prevailing hunger crisis requires collaborative efforts from Nigerians.

Represented by NDDC General Director, Winifred Madume at the two days summit, Ogbuko urged participants to collectively brainstorm lasting solutions to the hunger crisis, while emphasizing the need to achieve self-sufficiency in food production.

Also speaking, NDPFF representative, Abayomi Monilari, highlighted the pivotal roles of farmers in combating the current hunger crisis he described as a civil war affecting the country.

Expressing worry over the current state of affairs, a Rivers state-based farmer, Promise Okezie called on fellow farmers to stop relying on both the Federal and State governments which he said have failed to contribute value to the agricultural sector.

Today fm Olawale Sanusi reports that the Niger Delta Agribusiness Development Summit and Exhibition featured farmers and stakeholders in the agro sector from, Abia, Rivers, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo and Bayelsa states.
