This is because the NDDC has cried out over alleged move by agents of the state government to frustrate road rehabilitation works embarked upon by the commission.
The spokesman for the Acting Managing Director of NDDC, BEKEE ANYALEWECHI disclosed in a Facebook post that the government plots to chase away all NDDC contractors doing emergency road repairs in parts of the state.
ANYALEWECHI noted that such incident was encountered last month by the NDDC contractors who came under attack while intervening on some roads around Rumueprikom community in Obio Akpor.
He quoted an aide to the State Governor saying that the NDDC would have to first seek the permission of the state government before embarking on any road intervention project.
It was also understood by the NDDC that the government’s move was to prevent the commission from laying claims to road repairs carried out by the state government.
But the spokesman for IBIM SEMINITARI said it was not true that NDDC claimed any road done by the Rivers State Government.
