Akpabio recanted his comments in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In the letter read by the Speaker during plenary, the Minister of Niger-Delta maintained that some contractors colluded with some members of the National Assembly to demand for payments for jobs that are currently being audited.
The Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio who pledged his respect to the National Assembly, noted that he was ambushed with several questions by the committee, leading to collision of answers to all the questions at the same.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, referred Akpabio’s response to the Ethics and Privileges Committee for further scrutiny.
The House of Representatives had resolved to institute a legal suit against the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, following the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum given to Akpabio who accused lawmakers receiving contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission.
