NDDC Commissions Ultra-Modern Market in Ibaa Community, Rivers State

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commissioned a newly constructed modern market in Ibaa Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, as part of its ongoing efforts to boost economic development at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Board, Tony Okocha, urged residents of Ibaa and the neighboring Obelle community to continue their support for President Bola Tinubu. He credited the successful delivery of the market project to the President’s sustained commitment to regional development through improved funding of the Commission.

Okocha described the market as a symbol of the Renewed Hope Agenda and a clear demonstration of the government’s intention to touch lives directly at the community level.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Chiedu Ebie, who was represented by the Delta State Representative on the board, Monday Igbuyia, advised the Ibaa community to make effective use of the new market. He said the project is expected to drive local revenue generation, promote small businesses, and stimulate economic activity in the area.

The Paramount Ruler of Ibaa/Obelle, Dr. Wobodo Jonah, in a goodwill message delivered by John Wokoma, expressed deep appreciation to the NDDC for the development. He described the project as a major economic boost for the community and a long-awaited intervention that will enhance commercial opportunities, especially for women and youth.

Our reporter, Emelda Ifeme, reports that the market complex includes a one-storey building with 20 lock-up stores, 126 open shops, a 12,000-gallon water facility, modern toilet facilities, and two office rooms. The new facility is expected to serve as a key commercial hub in the area.
