Jonathan Urges Longer Tenures for NDDC Bosses to Enhance Development

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for longer tenures for Managing Directors of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to improve project delivery and ensure institutional stability in the region.

Speaking during the 25th anniversary celebration of the NDDC in Port Harcourt, Dr. Jonathan said that frequent changes in the leadership of the Commission have disrupted continuity and slowed down developmental efforts across the Niger Delta.

He stressed that meaningful development requires consistency in leadership, which enables the proper planning, execution, and completion of long-term projects.

Dr. Jonathan noted that strengthening the administrative structure of the NDDC would boost public confidence and enhance the Commission’s impact on the lives of the people in the region.

Also speaking at the event, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, said economic stability in the Niger Delta can be achieved through full support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He emphasized the need for regional collaboration and alignment with federal policies to unlock the full development potential of the oil-rich region.
