National Assembly Orders Withdrawal of Circulars on 2025 Contract Awards

The National Assembly has directed the withdrawal of all circulars previously issued for contract awards under the 2025 fiscal year.

The decision comes as the implementation of the ₦23.9 trillion capital component of the 2025 budget is set to commence and extend into 2026. Lawmakers said the move was necessary to ensure proper alignment of spending priorities and compliance with due process before projects are rolled out.

The resolutions were reached on Thursday during a meeting between the Joint Committee on Appropriations and the President’s economic team at the National Assembly.

Officials at the meeting noted that the withdrawal of earlier circulars would allow for a transparent framework to guide contract awards and project execution under the capital budget.
