The Head of NAPTIP in Rivers State, Ikediashi Amaka made this known during an event organized by the Rivers State Chapter of the African Women Lawyers Association of Nigeria to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
Amaka who spoke on the topic; the menace of human trafficking and its consequences, identified the causes of trafficking to include illiteracy, greed, peer pressure, quest for greener pastures among others, and also called on the victims to speak up to get justice.
On his part, the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Rivers State Command, Abdulahi Ja’afar-Kwasau, said there will be a massive mobilization of officers at the boarders to ensure that the issue of illegal migration is nipped in the bud.
Ja’afar-Kwasau, also called on the government at all levels to support and collaborate with the command by providing all that is needed to bring the activities of traffickers to a standstill.
