NANS Threatens Protest Against MTN, MultiChoice Over Xenophobia in South Africa

The National Association of Nigerian Students has threatened a nationwide protest against South African business interests in Nigeria over renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

The students’ body said it may shut down the operations of companies such as MTN and MultiChoice as part of planned actions, while also urging Nigerians to close their accounts with Stanbic IBTC Bank in protest. NANS said the move was aimed at pressuring authorities to respond to what it described as the continued persecution of Nigerians in South Africa.

The association warned that unless urgent steps are taken to address the situation and protect Nigerians abroad, it would intensify its actions against South African-linked businesses operating in the country.
