Motsepe: World Cup Without Nigeria Is Incomplete

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has described the absence of Nigeria’s Super Eagles from the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a major disappointment, saying the global football tournament feels incomplete without Nigeria.

Motsepe said Nigeria remains one of Africa’s football powerhouses with a rich World Cup history, adding that the tournament loses some of its appeal when the Super Eagles are not part of it.

He also praised the performances of the African teams that qualified for the competition, noting that they showcased the continent’s growing quality and competitiveness on the global stage.

The CAF president expressed confidence that African football would continue to make progress, reiterating his belief that an African nation has the potential to win the FIFA World Cup in the future.
