The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has called for a review of the practice of the President serving as substantive Minister of Petroleum.
The group’s President-General, Dr. Kennedy Tonjo-West, said effective governance requires accountability and specialization in key sectors.
He argued that if the presidency must supervise the petroleum sector directly, similar attention should be given to defence and solid minerals.
Tonjo-West also expressed concern over the slow development of the marine and blue economy in the Niger Delta and urged Ijaw people to remain peaceful and united.
