Our correspondent reports that members of staff and pupils of some of the Rivers State-owned schools did not bother to leave their homes today after they were locked out yesterday.

Some local government authorities have also mobilized some individuals to forcefully reopen the gates of the affected schools.

That was the scenario at Rumu-Apara Model Primary School in Obio-Akpor where the padlock fastened on the gate was forced open to allow access for teachers and pupils.

The spokesman for the aggrieved security guards,
GODSWILL NWUKE warned that those who broke the lock should be ready to any school property that goes missing.

GODSWILL NWUKE said the security guards would continue their protest until their outstanding salaries of four months are cleared by the Rivers State Government.
