One area of contention since the bill was passed is the equity shares of three percent by the senate and five percent by the House of Representatives allocated for the host communities.
Speaking on the controversy, the former Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Emmanuel Inimgba while acknowledging that the three percent shares for the host communities is not enough, believed that the rehabilitation of the refineries in Nigeria will go a long way in reducing the tension in the oil industry.
