The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
His resignation was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Nnaji’s exit comes amid growing controversy surrounding the authenticity of his academic and service credentials. Allegations had surfaced over the legitimacy of the certificate he claimed to have obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State, as well as his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate.
Although details remain unclear, political analysts suggest the resignation may be linked to ongoing investigations into the alleged certificate discrepancies.
Nnaji’s departure marks the first major resignation from Tinubu’s cabinet since its formation in 2023 and comes at a time when the administration faces increasing public scrutiny over accountability and credibility in government appointments.
The Presidency is yet to name a replacement for the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
