The illegal refining site popularly called kpofire factory is allegedly owned by a police officer who stores the product within a residential area.
It is not clear what caused the fire but buildings and other properties within the area were reported to have been razed.
Our source said the owner of the site fled the community immediately he was notified of the visit of local authorities.
