Members of the public have been warned about the sale of contaminated chicken and fish in markets around Rivers State.The contaminated frozen products are traceable to six container loads of chicken and fish that were intercepted at the Onne seaport in Rivers State and destroyed by the Nigeria Customs Service last week.The Rivers State Ministry of Health revealed in a statement that some persons from communities in Eleme Local Government Area had returned to the site where the contaminated chicken and fish were buried in Onne to excavate them for sale to the public.
The statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary of the Health Ministry, PAUL BAZIA, also advised members of the public to establish the source of frozen chicken and fish before making purchase.BAZIA assured that the ministry of health was making efforts to mop up the contaminated products from the markets.
