MAMELODI SUNDOWNS WIN CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TITLE AFTER 1-1 DRAW WITH AS FAR

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have been crowned champions of Africa after securing the CAF Champions League title following a 1-1 draw with Morocco’s AS FAR in the second leg of the final in Rabat.

Sundowns completed a 2-1 aggregate victory after edging the first leg 1-0 in Pretoria, sealing their second continental crown in club history.

The Moroccan hosts took the lead in the second leg after converting a penalty in the first half, briefly leveling the tie on aggregate and putting pressure on the South African champions.

However, Sundowns responded strongly and found the crucial equaliser before halftime, restoring their aggregate advantage and shifting momentum back in their favour.

Despite sustained pressure from AS FAR in the second half, Sundowns held firm defensively to protect their aggregate lead and secure the trophy.

The result marks a return to the summit of African football for Sundowns, who last won the competition in 2016, and further strengthens their status as one of the continent’s most successful clubs.
