MALAMI made the call as the various committees of both the Senate and the House of Representatives continue with the budget defence of various ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government.
The Justice Minister is of the opinion that an increase in the financial estimates for the ministry would help in addressing the responsibilities of justice administration in the country.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, SALIHU OTHMAN ISAH, the Minister maintained that the 2017 appropriation for the Justice Ministry was grossly inadequate.
ISAH noted that the Attorney General made the appeal when he appeared before members of the House of Representatives Committee on Legal Matters at the National Assembly in Abuja to defend the budget of his ministry.
The statement also quoted the Chairman of the House Committee on Legal Matters RAZAK OLATUNDE ATUNWA pledging to look into the budget of the Justice Ministry.
ATUNWA is also reported to have acknowledged that inadequate funding would be a hindrance to performance and the success of the Justice Ministry.
