The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, said President BUHARI personally signed the letter, in which he expressed profound shock over the death of the former Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
According to a statement obtained by our correspondent, SHEHU said the President’s letter was delivered by the Federal Government delegation to the burial of Alhaji SULE, as constituted by the Acting President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO.
In his letter, President BUHARI reportedly described the death of Alhaji SULE as a heavy loss, adding that although the deceased was in poor health for some time, his death nonetheless, came as a profound shock.
President BUHARI recalled that as a Minister in the First Republic, late Alhaji SULE was one of those who assisted Nigeria’s founding fathers, to lay the grounds of national co-existence.
He said late MAITAMA SULE was blessed by God with a wonderful voice and outstanding eloquence, adding that served with distinction in the First Republic, the Second Military regime, as well as the Second Republic.
