Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Senator Magnus Abe, has urged the Ogoni people not to allow external forces to create division among them.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Abe said the long-standing aspiration of the Ogoni ethnic nationality to produce a governor of Rivers State can only be achieved through unity, peaceful engagement, and collective action.
He dismissed claims that he is working against the Ogoni governorship ambition and insisted that he remains committed to the political advancement of the Ogoni people.
Abe expressed confidence that the aspiration would be realised at the appropriate time and said he would play a leading role in its actualisation when the opportunity arises.
The former Rivers South-East senator also highlighted his contributions to the development of Ogoniland, including his role in the establishment of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP.
