The Chief Magistrate Ihua-Maduenyi granted bail to the two pilots Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari after hearing the motion abridging the time for the bail application by their counsel Nwokedi Ibe which was not opposed by the prosecution council, Zaccheus Adamgor who is also the Attorney-General of the state.
The Attorney-General of Rivers State, emphasized that the Rivers State Government is not interested in the persecution of the defendants, hence it did not oppose the bail application.
The court ordered that the suspects must present a surety who must be a management staff of Carveton Helicopters and owns a landed property in Port Harcourt and must ensure that the two pilots attend trial.
Chief Magistrate also ordered that the surety must sign a bail bond of one million naira each for the two pilots after which he adjourned the matter to 19th of May, 2020 for trial.
Our correspondent Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the court also granted bail to the other ten accused passengers of Caverton Helicopters at the tune of five hundred thousand naira each which must be signed by two sureties who must be management staff of Caverton Helicopters.
