Leicester City have officially announced the appointment of Marti Cifuentes as their new manager, ahead of the 2025/2026 Championship season.
The 43-year-old Spaniard has signed a two-year contract at the King Power Stadium, with an option to extend for an additional year. Cifuentes takes over from Ruud van Nistelrooy, who departed the club after just seven months in charge following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League.
Cifuentes, known for his progressive style of play, now faces the task of guiding the Foxes back to top-flight football. His first test will come on August 10, when Leicester kick off their Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday.
Club officials expressed confidence in the new appointment, citing Cifuentes’ track record in building competitive squads and implementing a strong footballing identity.
Fans will be watching closely as a new era begins at Leicester City under Cifuentes’ leadership.
