Legal Battle between Asylum Seekers and Australian Government as Australian Authorities Move to Close Refugee Camp in Papua New Guinea

Asylum seekers arriving by boat in camps on Manus Island and the small Pacific nation of Nauru are contending that the closure of the camp would breach their human rights by denying them access to water, electricity and security.
The detainees have refused to leave but instead are stockpiling water and dry biscuits, as well as setting up makeshift catchments for rainwater, as officials announced a deadline of 5PM local time to switch off electricity, drinking water and food at the centre.
