Governor Sanwo-Olu made the disclosure during the 2021 Budget presentation at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The Governor, who said an Executive Bill will be sent to the Assembly to that effect, explained that the Law will be repealed because of its huge financial burden on the state government.
The 2021 Appropriation Bill of the Lagos State government is christened, ‘Budget of Rekindled Hope’, which the Governor said is in accordance with recent events necessitated by the COVID Nineteen pandemic and the violent End SARS protest in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the one point one trillion naira 2021 budget takes into account, the fiscal strengths and challenges of Lagos State.
It would interest you to know that the pension law permitting former governors and other public office holders to receive huge pensions from state coffers also exists in other States like Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Rivers, Sokoto, Kano, Kwara and Zamfara.
And under the law, a former Governor is entitled to a house in any location of his choice, pension for life at hundred per cent of his last salary, three brand new cars after five years, drivers, domestic members of staff, medical bills for them and their immediate families, amongst many others.
