Labour Party Elects New Leadership in Rivers State

The Labour Party in Rivers State has elected a new set of executives following its State Congress, with actress and activist Hilda Dokubo emerging as the substantive State Chairman.

Other key officers elected include Emmanuel Whyte, Gloria Abalanne, and Boma Carson as Deputy Chairmen. Olumati Isaiah was elected State Secretary, Kingsley Ugwuorah as Publicity Secretary, and Charles Nwokedi as State Organizing Secretary, among several others. The new officials will serve a four-year term.

In her acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Hilda Dokubo, pledged to lead the party with progressive and visionary ideals aimed at uniting members and advancing development in Rivers State. She also reiterated the party’s commitment to pushing for comprehensive electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Supervising the Congress, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary and Returning Officer, Prince Favour Reuben, said peace and harmony have been restored at the national level, describing the Labour Party as now standing “as one united political family.”

A six-man INEC monitoring team led by Dr. Daniel Ntui observed the exercise.
