The Kenyan health authorities have ordered the closure of the two hotels following the death of four people since the disease was first reported in May.
The closure of the hostels is as a result of the hospitalization of dozens of people, including two cabinet ministers, after eating food prepared by the hotels.
The Minister of Health, CLEOPA MAILU said the two hotels would remain closed until they comply with new health and safety standards set by the ministry.
The ministry has also cancelled the medical certificates of all food handlers across the country and formed a task force to oversee government’s response to the outbreak.
Six treatment centres have also been set up, mainly in informal settlements, as Nairobi city authorities try to stop the spread of the disease.
