The apex Ogoni socio-cultural organisation, KAGOTE, has dismissed reports suggesting a surge in insecurity in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Spokesperson of KAGOTE, Menele Nzidee, clarified that some of the security threats recorded in Khana were largely reprisal attacks between rival gang groups, rather than a widespread breakdown of law and order.
He noted that the ban on the operation of commercial motorcycle riders, popularly known as Okada, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. would help address the situation.
Nzidee expressed confidence in the ability of the Khana Local Government Chairman to effectively tackle the security challenges and restore calm in the area.
