Kaduna Government Releases ₦2.32bn for Pensioners, Families of Deceased Civil Servants

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the release of ₦2.321 billion for the settlement of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, the disbursement covers accrued rights under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as well as gratuity and death benefits under the old Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

The Commissioner noted that with this latest release, the Kaduna State Government has now disbursed a total of ₦6.678 billion in 2025 alone and ₦13.5 billion since the inception of the present administration two years ago.

Maiyaki emphasized that the move demonstrates Governor Sani’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of pensioners and the families of deceased public servants, describing the payments as a reflection of the administration’s compassion and fiscal responsibility.

“The welfare of pensioners remains a top priority of this administration. Governor Uba Sani is determined to ensure that retirees and the families of deceased workers receive their entitlements without unnecessary delay,” Maiyaki said. “Regular and timely payments will continue to ease the hardship faced by our senior citizens and dependents of those who served the state faithfully.”

He added that the government’s pension reforms have strengthened transparency and accountability in the management of pension funds, ensuring that the transition from the old Defined Benefit Scheme to the Contributory Pension Scheme is handled efficiently.

Governor Uba Sani has consistently maintained that workers’ welfare, both active and retired, is central to his governance agenda. The latest disbursement follows similar payments made earlier in the year to reduce outstanding pension liabilities and provide relief to retirees struggling with the current economic situation.

The statement reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to sustain regular pension payments and settle all verified arrears, assuring pensioners and their families of continued support and respect for their years of dedicated service to Kaduna State.
