In his argument in court today; counsel to VICTORIA NYECHE, AHAM EKEJELAM told the court that LIVINGSTON NWECHIE lacks the locus to seek an order of court to stop the Rivers State House of Assembly from swearing-in a duly elected lawmaker.
The Senior Advocate argued that the originator of the suit does not have the right simply because he is from Port Harcourt Local Government Area or the Director of Integrity Group.
But in their counter arguments; KINGSLEY CHUKU who is counsel to NWECHIE, as well as ZACHEOUS ADANGOR who represented the Rivers State House of Assembly, cited the constitution to support their positions that any bonafide individual has the right to institute matters in court.
On his part, Rivers State Attorney-General, EMMA AGUMA contended that VICTORIA NYECHE’s alleged use of the letter-head of the House of Assembly when she was yet to be sworn-in amounts to fraud.
The Attorney General urged the court to dismiss the objection of the defence counsel and immediately proceed to consider the main suit.
After taking all the arguments, Justice ENEBELI said despite the clamour by some people against him, he will keep to his word and deliver judgment on the matter.
Outside the courtroom; the defence counsel, AHAM EKEJELAM told our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA that the action of LIVINGSTONE NWECHIE amounts to that of a busybody.
On his part, counsel to the Rivers State House of Assembly, ZACHEOUS ADANGOR recapped what happened inside the court.
ZACHEOUS ADANGOR is counsel to the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Speaker and the Clerk.
