The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has raised concern over the state of Nigeria’s judicial system, warning that justice is increasingly becoming a “purchasable commodity” where the poor are victimised while the wealthy evade accountability.
Speaking as a guest speaker at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Enugu, the Sultan cautioned that corruption and inequality are eroding the integrity of the judiciary.
He urged legal practitioners and stakeholders to work towards restoring confidence in the system to ensure fairness and equal treatment for all citizens.
