JAC suspends Strike Action

JAC comprises the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, and the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT.
The National President of the Joint Acting Committee, SAM UGWOKE, announced the suspension of the strike at a media briefing in Abuja.
UGWOKE said the decision followed an agreement reached with the unions by the Federal Government, after eight hours of negotiations.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Doctor CHRIS NGIGE, who led the Federal Government delegation at the meeting, assured the unions that the government would address all issues raised by its members.
Some of the demands of the striking workers include the immediate payment of earned allowances and a review of the universities governance system among other issues.
