It appears the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunals has extended the period for the inspection of electoral materials used in the 2015 elections by an additional one week. This indication followed the expiration of the initial one week given for the inspection of materials, though the exercise had not been concluded. The All Progressives Congress and all of its candidates in the March 28th and April 11th polls, were granted leave to inspect the materials and a three-man special taskforce was mandated by the Independent National Electoral Commission to supervise the exercise.
Speaking with correspondent LEVI ISU, a member of the APC inspection team and former Vice Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, NDIDI ERIM said they have not collected materials used in the elections contested by all the party’s candidates. ERIM explained that the team was working hard to beat the deadline allotted for the inspection and sorting of materials. The former vice chairman, however, expressed satisfaction over the on-going exercise of the sorting of the electoral materials.
Our correspondent reports that the agents of the Rivers State Governor and the Peoples’ Democratic Party, including the party’s State Assistant Publicity Secretary, SAM WONOSIKE were present to collect certified true copies of the electoral materials used for the elections in the state. WONOSIKE also accused the APC of having collected the some documents they applied for.
