Islamist militants in Mali have carried out their first attack using an armoured vehicle.
The attack last Friday was targeted United Nations peacekeepers in northern Mali, with seven of them killing and thirty wounded.
The development was confirmed by a UN spokesman, RADHIA ACHOURI, in a report circulated by Associated Press news agency.
The militants are believed to have used homemade shields to reinforce the truck which drove into the UN base in Kidal town.
The Ansar Dine group, which is an offshoot of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, claimed responsibility for the attack.
