Islamic State militants have destroyed an ancient temple of Baal in the Syrian city of Palmyra. Syrian officials said the ancient temple was blown up on Sunday, while the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that it happened a month ago. Baalshamin is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and came under the control of Islamic State after Palmyra fell to Islamic State in May.
