Obio/Akpor Council Insists on August 1 Deadline for Okada Ban

The Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State says the August 1 deadline for the ban on commercial motorcycle operations in the area remains unchanged.

The council’s Chief Press Secretary, Nsirim Goodluck, confirmed this in an interview with Today FM’s Uchendu Ejuowhor, stating that the local government had engaged relevant stakeholders who agreed on the need for the ban.

Goodluck urged residents to explore alternative means of transportation to carry out their daily activities, assuring that the decision was taken in the interest of the area.

The planned ban, announced by the council chairman, Gift Worlu, had earlier attracted criticism from residents and commercial motorcycle operators, who expressed concerns over the lack of alternative transportation options and the impact on livelihoods.
