The state Resident Electoral Commissioner in a statement noted that the exercise is to further test the functionality of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System devices ahead of the 2023 General Election in the State.
According to the statement which was signed by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mark Usulor, the exercise will hold on 4th of February, 2023, between 8.30am and 2.30pm in two Polling Units each in six selected Local Government Areas.
The statement revealed that two out of the six local government are drawn from the three Senatorial Districts including Ikwerre and Obio/Akpor Local Government for Rivers East, Gokana and Opobo-Nkoro for Rivers South-East, while Rivers West will have Asari-Toru and Bonny local government Areas.
The INEC therefore enjoined all registered voters in the selected Polling units, Political Parties, Civil Society Organizations, the Media and the general Public to come out en-masse to participate/observe the exercise in the local government Areas.
The electoral umpire also assured of its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible and safe elections in 2023.
