INEC to appeal court judgment allowing TVC for election

Also, the Commission described the order as contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2033 as amended, which provides that only voters with Permanent Voter Cards, should be allowed to vote in the elections.

This followed after the Federal High Court in Abuja, ordered INEC to allow the use of Temporary Voter Cards in the March 18 governorship and state houses of assembly elections.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu, gave the order while delivering judgment in a suit filed by two aggrieved Nigerians seeking the use of TVCs in the general elections in the absence of Permanent Voter Cards.

Justice Egwuatu said the order was made on the grounds that the plaintiffs were duly registered and captured in INEC’s database.
