The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has received sensitive materials from its national headquarters in Abuja ahead of Saturday’s Rivers South-East Senatorial by-election.
Receiving the materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Johnson Alalibo, said the items would be distributed to the seven local government areas participating in the election. He added that the commission was fully prepared to conduct a credible exercise.
Dr. Alalibo assured political parties and candidates of a level playing field, while the materials were inspected by INEC officials and party agents ahead of the poll in Oyigbo, Eleme, Tai, Gokana, Khana, Andoni, and Opobo/Nkoro local government areas.
