INEC National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye made the clarification, when he spoke on a television interview.
Okoye advised lawyers of the aggrieved political parties, to channel their request appropriately, adding that INEC at the national level does not conduct election but at the state and local government level.
He said INEC will direct the parties to the appropriate place where they can get the materials they are looking for.
Okoye said INEC is only resetting the BVAS, to recognize the new date for the forthcoming election, stating that the BVAS will not allow itself to reconfigure until all the date has been uploaded to the commission’s.
He said INEC will not allow individuals to witness the resetting of the BVAS, because it contains sensitive information of biometrics of other individuals.
Meanwhile; the Independent Nation Electoral Commission says every political party is expected to have a copy of the election result from the various pooling units, even before the results are uploaded.
Speaking on a television programme, INEC Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, said political parties have agents who are expected to have a copy of the result sheet from their pooling units.
Okoye advised that parties they should make comparison with what they have and what was uploaded in INEC portal.
On the conduct of the governorship and state Assembly elections, Okoye assured that INEC has learnt lessons from the errors of the presidential election.
He said the issue of transportation, where some drivers and some ad-hoc staff pulled out at the last minute has been handled.
Okoye said the BVAS was programmed to function in a certain way and INEC has not altered it.
