INEC chief assures of free, fair polls,New six commissioners assume seats.

Professor YAKUBU also said it was not true that INEC was being bias as alleged in some quarters, just as he assured that the commission would not be distracted by such claims.

Speaking on the sidelines of the swearing-in of new INEC commissioners at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the INEC Chairman said the commission was satisfied with the level of preparations for the Rivers rerun elections so far.

 

Professor MAHMOOD YAKUBU is the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile; six new National Commissioners have assumed their seats on the management team of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

They were sworn-in by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In his remarks, President BUHARI challenged the new INEC commissioners to be upright and ensure that their integrity and that of the commission is not compromised.

President BUHARI also assured of the commitment of his administration to sustaining Nigeria’s democracy, by making sure that the votes of Nigerians count in every election.
