ILHAN OMAR sets to unseat PHYLLIS KAHN US Democratic primary.

OMAR has defeated one of the Minnesota Legislature’s longest-serving members PHYLLIS KAHN in a Democratic primary. 

 

KAHN has represented the DFL affiliated to the Democratic Party for forty four years in the state assembly.

 

Thirty three year-old OMAR and her family escaped Somalia’s civil war and lived for four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before moving to the US and settling in Somali-American neighbourhood of Cedar-Riverside, in Minnesota state.

 

She will face Republican ABDIMALIK ASKAR another  Somali-born American in the November election.
