IGWURUTA WOMEN PROTEST OVER HIGH LEVEL OF INSECURITY IN THE COMMUNITY

Our correspondent reports that the women blocked a section of the Igwuruta axis of Port Harcourt-Owerri road to draw the attention of the state government to their plights.

The women chanted solidarity songs calling on Governor NYESOM WIKE to come to their aid over the bad state of Igwuruta Ali road, School road and other roads to enable the smooth running of economic and social activities in the area.

The protesting women also pleaded with the governor to device new means of tackling insecurity in the community which they said have crippled their activities and led to the loss of lives and properties.

Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that no government official came to address the protesters, but added that they were later addressed by some leaders of the community.
