Ignatius Ajuru VC Advocates Digital Literacy Integration to Curb Cybercrime

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu, has called for the integration of digital literacy into the school curriculum to equip students with skills that could help reduce cybercrime.

Professor Onuchukwu made the call at the 9th Annual Conference of the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, held at the Ndele Campus in Emuoha Local Government Area. He was represented at the event by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Isaac Ogundu.

The lead paper presenter, Professor Esther Fomsi of Educational Technology at the University of Port Harcourt, addressed the conference on the topic, “Digital Skills for Redirecting Youths’ Cybercrime Activities into Productive Ventures.”

Meanwhile, the keynote speaker, Professor Isaac Dokubo, highlighted “The Role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Curbing Cybercrime Activities Among Youths in Nigeria,” urging the government to increase funding for technology and vocational education.

The event drew students, lecturers, and other members of the academic community, providing a platform to share ideas and gain insights from the discussions and presentations.
