Hearing stalled on fresh charges against Amaechi and Tonye Cole

When the matter which was scheduled for prove of serve was mentioned in court, counsel to Rivers State government, Dem Nwigwe informed the court of their inability to effect service to all the defendants in the matter.

Nwigwe who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria applied for leave to service the defendants through substituted means which was granted by the Presiding Judge, Justice Chinwendu Nworgu.

Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that Justice NWORGU before adjourning to 2nd of February, 2023 for plea, directed the Rivers State government to serve the remaining defendants by publishing the prove of service and hearing notice in Nation Newspaper and bring same to court on the next adjourned date.

Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom,one of the counsels to Rivers State government, Alphonsus Sibi disclosed some of their challenges in effecting service, saying that the latest position of the court will help in the matter. 

Rivers state Government had sometime in October, 2022 withdrew its earlier criminal charges before Justice Okobule Gbasam against the former governor, the APC governorship candidate and five others without any reason, but has refiled the suit before Justice Chiwendu Nworgu.
