Health Practitioners board to commence verification of health workers in Rivers

But the move is already receiving stiff opposition from primary healthcare workers in the state.

The National President of the Primary Healthcare Workers Association of Nigeria, Daniel Atieme argued that primary healthcare workers in the state have not been promoted for over ten years, adding that the verification exercise by the board cannot be justified.

On his part, the state Chairman of the Primary Healthcare Workers Association of Nigeria, Bathelowme Echieonwu called on community health workers in the state to boycott the verification exercise.

Today FM’s Chinedu Iwunna reports that primary Health workers in Rivers state have been at loggerheads with the state government over the inability of the government to transfer the payment of their salaries from the local government to the state primary healthcare management board.
