Our correspondent reports that the intervention in Ohaji-Egbema is being driven by the Foundation for Youth Development in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme.
Representatives of the organizations visited Abacheke, Ugada and Etwkuru communities to assess the impact of oil spill and pollution on agricultural activities, which is the main occupation of the people.
One of the officials, OJIUGO KIBGDOM, told newsmen that the project they were embarking upon would help in restoring the land for enhanced agriculture activities and revival of the local economy.
In his response on behalf of the community inhabitants, IFEANYI OLANWO who spoke with our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR, welcomed the intervention, adding that their farmland could no longer produce good crops as a result of oil pollution.
