The consultants are claiming a percentage of Paris Club refunds as payment of services they said they rendered to the states and local government.
The Federal Government had determined to pay the consultants from state accounts but a Federal High Court last Friday restrained it from making such deductions until all issues relating to that matter were fully determined which the office of the AGF suggested the states and local governments had acted in bad faith for taking the case to court.
But yesterday, the NGF, in a statement signed by its spokesperson Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said the AGF’s actions raises questions of propriety and the spirit of justice.
Meanwhile; the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami, says Nigeria’s judiciary is bedeviled by funding inadequacies.
The AGF made the complaint yesterday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, at the 2022 budget defence.
Malami was accompanied by acting Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Etsu, and Director Public Prosecution, M. B. Abubakar.
The AGF said evidence reveals that the Administration of Justice which guarantees sustainable peace, equity and fair play is undeniably capital intensive.
Malami also said his ministry is making efforts to get some cost of collection from recovered funds to finance their recovery operations.
