Governor WIKE said the current situation where the Federal Government controls proceeds from natural resources and hands out a few percentage to the host communities is not working.
The Governor also observed that the prevailing situation where the oil wells in the Niger Delta are mostly owned by people from outside the region is responsible for the ceaseless agitations.
The Rivers State Governor was speaking in a live television interview that was broadcast from the Government House in Port Harcourt.
And for the second day running, Governor WIKE also took time to respond to criticism of the programmes of his administration by his predecessor and Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI.
On the issue of insecurity; Governor WIKE said it was neither peculiar to Rivers State nor his administration, as the immediate-past government also had to deal with similar situations.
The former Governor and Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI, had at his fifty-second birthday symposium in Port Harcourt over the weekend, complained about widespread insecurity in Rivers State since Governor WIKE took office over two years ago.
